SETZER PREMIERS 35M EXPRESS MOTORYACHT
Setzer Yacht Architects has announced the premier of "VL-36," the second of 16 futuristic designs from 30 to 80 meters that the award-winning yacht design studio is introducing this summer.
This new radical design, a 36-meter express motoryact called "Tango" offers another glimpse of what is happening on the design boards of a studio that is completely rewriting its own successful play book. "The 'Tango' design addresses the recent popularity of go-fast designs combined with all the comforts found in much larger vessels," said Ward Setzer, principal. "And yet this design is meant to attract the owner who wants a bit more sky and sea in his fast weekend at sea, jumping port to port and then retiring to the five star luxury of this type of sport/express motoryacht."
The Tango has a beam of 7.3M and a draft of 1.9M, the still the design has plenty of volume to accommodate 19,000 liters of fuel and 3000 liters of water. Below there are four generous cabins for owners and guests on multiple levels. Powered by a surface piercing drive system and capable of cruising speeds of 22 knots and a top speed of 28 kts , the hull design has been refined to provide speed and comfort with great maneuverability at speed. Combination sunning and dining areas sits within the bow and a large tender garage/cabana deploys from the transom. Within the vessel, the feature remains combinations of sunroofs and a multi-level salon opening via fully retractable sliding doors onto the aft deck complete with another dining area and bar.
The Tango design houses four crew members in two cabins, plus a separate captain's cabin. The Galley can be centrally located or given to crew access only.
"The future at Setzer Design starts now," Setzer said. "As our studio approaches its 18th year of business, a new spirit of design has taken over and is now taking shape and the VL-36 which will also be in good company as we bring its sister ships to life around it." Further projects at the studio include the latest series "S" for Fittipaldi Yachts of Brazil, and a new 30m project called "Yachtsman" underway with the U.S. builder Burger Boat Company.
